What do you get with managed?

Our managed hosting core services include uptime and response time monitoring, SSL certificate checking, website health analysis, and integrity checks for core files, templates and plugins. We also monitor every sites activity, its server health and CPU usage.

Inclusive support time

We give you at least 30 minutes of any-user support each month for use in content management, new features or just to try out a new design. You can request support via our ticket system or support email.


No unknown housemates

We don’t allow automated signups and we know all of our clients. All sites are audited before going live and monitored hourly so we know if anything changes. Some hosts have thousands of unknown sites on their servers. We think that’s a security risk.


Low density server space

Our servers can handle hundreds of sites on each instance. We limit this to less than 50 for perfomance and security reasons. Our Managed Premium package gives you your own VPS and Cloudflare Pro plan for additional security and speed.


24/7 real-time monitoring

We know what is normal for your site and if that changes our systems alert us to the change. We investigate and resolve if required. We have built a monitoring system which shows the various resources and the current demand. Spikes in this may indicate an attack.


Core & extension updates

Your managed hosting fee covers not just the hosting environment but all plugin, extension and core updates within your current version. We only update these after testing them on our development platform first.


Regular on and off-site backups

Digital Ocean sites are automatically backed up off-site at least every 6 hours with local and remote backups on demand from the site admin whenever you want.


Extension library

Wintercorn maintain a library of paid extension and plugin subscriptions for Joomla! and WordPress. Where allowed, we can offer these to our clients to reduce their ongoing costs. You can also bring your own subscription and we’ll update it for you.


Quick restore from backup

In the event of a failure requiring full or partial restoration we can restore a full site and database back to production as quickly as 12 minutes. Locally stored backups only take a short while longer.

Our standard hourly rate is £75. We base all additional support, new build proposals, consulting work, training and everything else we do around this rate. Ask us for a reduced rate if you bulk buy hours in advance.

The small print – Additional payment may be required for updating any commercial extensions/plugins if we do not have the extension in our library. Any inclusive support time applies to the current month only and is not rolled over. All issues must be submitted via the ticket system at wintercorn.support.  Unrestricted means within reasonable business use and within the capacity of the server.
